We decided on this particular apartment because of the location (adjacent to downtown Tacoma, but out of the "ghetto"), size (a luxurious two-bedroom spanning the second and third stories of the house), and price (cheap!).

We decided to use the downstairs bedroom as an additional living room, and made our bedroom in the third storey, a converted attic room with sharply slanting walls and a skylight. Marc built a cat ladder for our kitten Olly so that he could get up and down from the balcony.
