Our book collection (mostly science fiction) is held by two bookcases, with the overflow stacked beside. My aunt Debbie built the taller bookcase and the long bookcase under the window is a cast-off from my parents. Marc "liberated" the large ceramic pig from a bar one night several years ago. The plant in the corner lives in a pot that I painstakingly tiled with shards from an unfortunate mirror-moving accident.

During the day, unfiltered sunlight streams in through the window. The overall feeling in our living room is one of airy openess, which we furthered by taking the door off the entrance to our "lounge", the original second bedroom.
